I believe in the power of words. They can destroy, inspire, comfort and also have the power to heal. Most people are aware of the potential harm and motivation that words can instill, but we may not always see that the very words we use are a powerful tool in the journey of self-love self discovery, healing and more!
The practice of talking or writing about what is making us happy or causing us trouble is highly underrated and swept under the rug in today’s society. We tend to dance around topics and have to be politically correct all the time. Your journal can be a place where you can lay your heart out, without judgement from anyone. It can be really freeing, nurtures your soul and I believe it to be so cathartic.
I am kinda old school when it comes to my journal. I love paper. Even though I have an iPhone, iPad etc, I still keep a paper planner every day and of course my journal. The excitement of a new leather-bound book (I buy mine on our travels, so they are even more special to me) is fabulous. You can color, write with a pen, pencil, markers or even paint. A fresh new blank page is just waiting for you to tell your story.
We’ve gotten so used to communicating through text, but keeping a paper journal can be a long term record of your thoughts and emotions far after your computer has died and your Cloud storage is full
If you’re really a techie and you really must, you can take a photo of each page once you’re done and keep it online in case you lose your paper planner
There are no rules - just try not to constrain or limit your thinking as to what you think your journal is or isn’t. Just let it unfold and have fun with it! The more you journal, the more you’ll love it.
All you need to get started is a notebook and a pen!
Start with the Basics. You don’t have to try everything at once. Just start with writing and add a few new things every time
Keep it simple and save embellishments for later. Keep in mind, the main purpose of your Journal is just to write what you are thinking and feeling. Even if you love the look of artistic Bullet Journals, start out simple
Sketch in pencil first. If you’re using a more complicated layout, sketch it in pencil first
Mistakes will happen. Don’t worry about your journal being perfect. It won’t be. Mistakes are part of the process
{Make sure you get the sharpie pen and not a Sharpie Marker}
